In this document, “ImgSource” refers to both the DLL and static library versions of the ImgSource library.

Cost

·         Full Version : $59.95, US

Restrictions

Once registered, you are free to use ImgSource however you wish, with the following restrictions:

·         You may not use ImgSource in a product that directly competes with ImgSource. This includes, but is not limited to, wrapping the ImgSource functions in other programming languages or interfaces.

·         You may not claim authorship of the ImgSource code or of the code in any of the supporting libraries (LibTiff, JpegLib, etc.). This includes modification of the internal name and version strings, as well as any external identification – all identification must remain exactly as set by Smaller Animals Software, Inc.. The only exception is the name of the ImgSource DLL which can (and should) be changed, if the DLL is re-built with different features than the standard build.

·         You may not modify the ImgSource libraries in any way without permission of Smaller Animals Software, Inc..

·         You may not explicitly distribute ImgSource access keys to persons who are not registered ImgSource users. Specifically, this applies to companies who wish to distribute the source of their applications to users. ImgSource access keys must not be included in this source.

·         Provided that it is an integrated part of your application, the compiled DLL (_ISource30.DLL) may be freely distributed with your application.

·         There is no limit on the number of copies of ImgSource that you may distribute.

·         There are no royalties required after the initial purchase of the ImgSource access key.

·         If there is opportunity for you to credit Smaller Animals Software, Inc. with writing ImgSource, you should feel free to mention us.

·         ImgSource is sold on an as-is basis with no guarantees as to suitability for any particular use. You should thoroughly test ImgSource to be sure it meets your needs before committing to using it.

·         Smaller Animals Software cannot be responsible for bugs in ImgSource that are not reported. All ImgSource bugs will be fixed as soon as possible, but only if they are reported. New versions may be downloaded without restriction.

·         The access keys are subject to change without prior notice. If the keys do change, all registered users will receive new keys via email. The keys will only change when it is determined that the current key has been distributed to un-registered users of ImgSource by any means.

·         ImgSource may not be used in commercial or non-commercial applications unless the author has obtained an access key from Smaller Animals Software, Inc.

·         Smaller Animals Software cannot be held responsible for any damages caused by the operation of the library, whether intentional or otherwise. Parties using this library in critical situations should acquire the source code and inspect it themselves, to verify correct functionality.

·         If you use ImgSource as part of an application that you are writing under contract with another company, you must insure that the other company agrees to be bound, as if they had registered ImgSource themselves, by the terms of this license.

Legal Warning : Using ImgSource (DLL or static library version) in an application without first purchasing a license is a violation of the terms-of-use for this product. Violators will be prosecuted.

Trial Limitations

The trial version of ImgSource will draw a big red "X" on all images read or written, and certain functionality may be disabled completely. Even when used with a valid ImgSource access key, the trial version will generate the "X". Registered users will be given instructions on how to download the full version of ImgSource, and will be issued a unique access key. The access key is used to initialize the library (both DLL and static libraries). Without a valid key, even the full version will generate the "X". When a valid access key is used to initialize the library, the "X" is not generated, and all functionality is enabled.

Source

Source is not included in the regular ImgSource packages. Source may be purchased separately from ImgSource. See the ImgSource web page for details. Currently, ImgSource is written using version 6.0 of Microsoft's Visual C++.

Static Lib Version

This library is also available as a set of static LIBs. The release and debug versions of two static libraries are available - one set built as MultiThreaded and one as MultiThreaded-DLL. All functionality is the same as in the DLL; all pricing and access-key policies are the same as for the DLL. See www.smalleranimals.com/ISource.htm for info on how to obtain the static LIB version.

Multi-threading

ImgSource is designed to be thread-safe. All global library data and all data that exists beyond the duration of a single call is packaged in thread-safe objects. This global data is also thread-local: a thread using ImgSource will not share this data with any other thread using ImgSource.

MFC

ImgSource uses none of the Microsoft Foundation Classes and does not require the MFC DLLs to be present. The static version of ImgSource can be used in applications that do not use MFC.

Patented Technologies

Purchase or use of this software does not grant license to use any technologies that may be legally owned or patented by a known or unknown third party.
