What does SuperDuper do?

SuperDuper will scan a folder (and, optionally, all subfolders) looking for duplicate files. It doesn't just compare file names, it compares the contents of the files, so that it will find duplicates regardless of what they're called. After it finishes its scanning, it will show you the list of duplicate files and give you the opportunity to delete the duplicate files it finds (if that's what you want), or to copy the list of duplicates to the clipboard. Pretty simple.

Why would I want to do that?

Well, we wrote this because our collection of MP3s was starting to accumulate a lot of duplicate files, and we wanted a way to find and eliminate these duplicates without having to go through all the thousands of folders in our iTunes library. Now that we have this program, to find those duplicates, all we have to do is launch SuperDuper and click "Start".

Download and install

Internet Explorer users : Download and install SuperDuper here.

Users of FireFox, and other browsers, can follow these instructions (this is for FireFox, but the steps should be similar to these on any browser):

1. Go to the install page (link will open in another window)
2. Right-click on the Install button.
3. Choose "Save Link As..." and save the link to your Desktop. Note that the file must be called "SuperDuper.application" (not "SuperDuper.application.txt, which is what FF will want to call it by default) - rename it, if you have to.
4. Double-click that file on your desktop to start the installer.
